Oklahoma AG Scott Pruitt to Campaign for Todd P’Pool

Kentucky native glad to be back in state

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 29, 2011

MADISONVILLE – The Todd P’Pool for Attorney General campaign announced today another rising star in the Republican Party, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, will campaign with Todd P’Pool in Kentucky this September.

Attorney General Pruitt grew up in Lexington where he graduated high school and earned a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Kentucky before attending law school in Oklahoma.

Since taking office, Attorney General Pruitt has been an advocate in pushing back against the power and overreach of Washington.

Pruitt garnered national attention earlier this year when he filed suit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and their activist agenda to improperly shut down domestic energy sources such as clean-burning coal plants in Oklahoma. Pruitt’s lawsuit against the EPA seeks to prevent the agency from proceeding with their improper implementation of the Regional Haze rule in Oklahoma, which is estimated would increase the cost of energy to consumers as much as 16%.

Pruitt believes finding ways to expand the use of all available domestic energy sources such as natural gas and coal will be vital to the strength of America.

Pruitt is also committed to fighting unconstitutional laws such as the healthcare law passed in 2010, and has filed suit in an Oklahoma federal court to prevent this attempt of the federal government to force Americans to purchase insurance or face a fine.

“We are excited to have Attorney General Scott Pruitt join us on the campaign trail,” said P’Pool. “While Jack Conway won’t stand up and take on the overreach of Washington, Attorney General Pruitt has aggressively fought to preserve state’s abilities to self regulate and put Washington in check.”

Scott Pruitt is the latest in a series of leading Republicans to announce they will assist P’Pool this fall in his election against Democrat Jack Conway. Others include Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, former Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson, and former UK basketball star Travis Ford.

MADISONVILLE – The Todd P’Pool for Attorney General campaign announced today that former Arkansas Governor, Presidential candidate, and FOX News commentator Mike Huckabee will come to Kentucky this October to campaign on behalf of Todd P’Pool for Attorney General.

Governor Huckabee will attend a fundraiser on October 1st at the home of former U.S. Ambassador Cathy Bailey. Since returning home to Kentucky in 2008 Ambassador Bailey has remained active in Republican politics and is focused on electing officials that will help move Kentucky forward.

In a statement Bailey said, “We need a watchdog in Frankfort that will serve as a guardian for the public’s interest.  Todd P’Pool as Attorney General is that person. Kentucky will not move forward until we start electing officials like P’Pool whose dedication and strong work ethic will provide us with the right kind of leadership.”

“Governor Huckabee is one of the strongest advocates for conservatism in America today,” said P’Pool. “Our shared values of being pro-life, pro-family, and pro-Second Amendment are currently lacking in Kentucky because we have a Barack Obama enthusiast in the Attorney General’s office.”

Governor Huckabee joins another national conservative leader, Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, in coming to Kentucky to campaign for Todd P’Pool.

MADISONVILLE – The Todd P’Pool for Attorney General campaign announced today that former Secretary of State Trey Grayson and UK basketball star Travis Ford will team up to assist Todd P’Pool in his campaign for Attorney General this October.

Trey Grayson served as Kentucky Secretary of State from 2003 to 2011. Grayson said he is proud to be part of P’Pool’s team:

“Todd P’Pool is one of the most promising candidates Kentucky has seen in decades. I am excited that he understands that the Attorney General can have a greater role in protecting the future of Kentucky and the lives of its citizens. The Commonwealth deserves an Attorney General who is not only an accomplished prosecutor, but who will defend Kentucky’s priorities.  This election is important for the future of Kentucky.  That’s why I look forward to joining Coach Ford in supporting Todd’s campaign.”

Travis Ford is a native of Hopkins County Kentucky and went on to become a star at the University of Kentucky. Ford went on to a successful coaching career at Campbellsville University, Eastern Kentucky Universiry, and University of Massachusetts before landing his current job as head basketball coach at Oklahoma State.

“Having two great Kentuckians like Trey Grayson and Travis Ford join our campaign team is a tremendous honor,” said P’Pool. “Each and every day, this campaign is gaining momentum, and the strong support we are receiving from across this Commonwealth will carry us to victory in November.”

Grayson and Ford will team up to headline a fundraiser for P’Pool in Lexington on October 5th.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli to Campaign for Todd P’Pool

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 17, 2011

MADISONVILLE – The Todd P’Pool for Attorney General campaign announced today that Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli will be campaigning with P’Pool in Kentucky during late September of this year.

Cuccinelli was first elected Virginia Attorney General in 2009 and has become a national leader by becoming the first Attorney General to successfully litigate the federal healthcare law in federal court. Cuccinelli’s trip to campaign for P’Pool will be highlighted by a fundraiser on September 29th in Elizabethtown.

“I am honored to have General Cuccinelli come to Kentucky and campaign on my behalf,” said P’Pool. “His conservative leadership against the unconstitutional healthcare law is a model that I pledge to replicate here in Kentucky.”

Todd P’Pool has pledged throughout his campaign that he would join the other 26 Attorneys General from around the country who are challenging Obamacare in federal court. Democrat Attorney General Jack Conway has refused to join any of the lawsuits, repeatedly referring to them as “irrelevant” or as a “gimmick.”

P’Pool’s campaign manager, David Ray said that Cuccinelli’s visit would provide a positive boost for the campaign: “Conservative leaders from across the country recognize the importance of this Attorney General’s race,” Ray said. “They know that Todd P’Pool is a strong candidate and will make a great Attorney General for Kentucky.”

P’Pool Praises 11th Circuit Ruling On Obamacare

Calls on Conway to Join the Fight Against Obamacare
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 12, 2011

MADISONVILLE – In response to today’s ruling by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals regarding Obamacare, Republican Nominee for Attorney General Todd P’Pool issued the following statement:

“I am encouraged to see that the 11th Circuit ruled to uphold liberty and protect the general police powers reserved to the states by ruling Obamacare unconstitutional,” said P’Pool. “Jack Conway believes that Obamacare is irrelevant to his job as Attorney General. When I’m Attorney General, the Constitution will be relevant to this job.”

On Friday, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Atlanta, ruled the individual mandate in Obamacare to be unconstitutional. Since the individual mandate provision is the cornerstone of President Obama’s law, this ruling is a significant blow to the White House and to supporters of the President’s health care reform.
